Marsha Blackburn, colleagues demand answers from Alejandro Mayorkas after illegal immigrants attack woman in Nashville ice cream parlor – Clarksville Online

US SenateNashville, TN – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and members of the Tennessee delegation sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas seeking answers about the immigration status of 23-year-old Nelson Yovani Ortiz-Ramirez and why he was allowed to stay in the United States.

Last week, Ortiz-Ramirez was charged with attempted kidnapping, sexual assault, public intoxication and evading arrest after following a woman into a bathroom at the Nashville Sundae Club and groping her.

He is currently in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody.

The Joe Biden border crisis continues to devastate American cities

“Since the President took office, there have been nearly 10 million encounters with illegal immigrants, and nearly 2 million known ‘escapes’ that have evaded Border Patrol detection and entered the United States. What is worrying is that more than 350 migrants encountered by border guards were on the terrorist watch list – 75 of whom were apprehended this fiscal year. And once again, Tennesseans have been forced to bear the brunt of President Biden’s border crisis.”

Joe Biden’s open borders policy made Ortiz-Ramirez’s crime possible

“Last week it was reported that Nelson Yovani Ortiz-Ramirez – an illegal immigrant – was charged with attempted kidnapping, sexual assault, public intoxication and evading arrest. This illegal migrant allegedly followed a woman into the bathroom of a local coffee shop, groped her and forced her into the bathroom, where the woman feared she would be raped. Fortunately, this brave woman was able to push Ortiz-Ramirez away and call the police. But this despicable incident would never have happened without your reckless and irresponsible open border policy.”

Ortiz-Ramirez’s crime is the latest in a series of atrocities

“Unfortunately, this incident is just the latest in a series of unconscionable acts by illegal immigrants who have entered our country. Last summer, an illegal immigrant in Franklin, Tennessee, was arrested after his colleagues discovered photos and videos of him raping and abusing unconscious children on his phone. And in February, an illegal immigrant paroled to the United States under your supervision allegedly brutally raped and murdered Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia who lived in his apartment building. If you or this administration had actually enforced our immigration laws, these heinous acts would never have happened.”
