Canada pledges nearly $370 million in military aid to Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for announcing a new military aid package worth CAD$500 million ($367 million).

“Today, together with the Prime Minister of Canada, we discussed Ukraine’s defense needs and coordinated cooperation within the coalition of fighter jets,” Zelensky said wrote on X.

In addition, they focused on expanding training missions for Ukrainian pilots and providing additional training opportunities using Canadian flight simulators.

“This will make our heroes on the battlefield stronger,” Zelensky said.

Earlier, Canada pledged 52.4 million Canadian dollars ($38.1 million) in aid during the world peace summit in Switzerland.

In early June, the Canadian government announced sanctions against 11 Russian individuals and 16 entities allegedly involved in activities supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
