Bahrain to welcome more than 12.4 million tourists in 2023, sees an increase of 2.4 million visitors | THE DAILY STAND

The Kingdom of Bahrain has witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of tourists in 2023, with more than 12.4 million visitors entering the country, according to statistics released by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA).

This represents a significant increase of over 2.4 million compared to 2022, underlining the steady growth of the tourism sector.

The impressive figures come as Bahrain continues to prioritize tourism development, aiming to consolidate its position on the regional and global tourism map through various programs and events held throughout the year.

The statistics indicate an increase in the number of tourists arriving through the King Fahd Causeway, Bahrain International Airport and Seaport, demonstrating the robust performance of the sector.

Significant increase

In 2022, the total number of tourists at all entry points reached 9,948,632, while in 2023 this figure rose to 12,406,810, showing a substantial increase.

December 2023 turned out to be the peak month for the number of tourists, with a total of 1,219,739 visitors.

King Fahd Causeway proved to be the most popular entry point, with 1,060,274 tourists, followed by Bahrain International Airport with 120,982 and the Seaport with 38,483.

On the other hand, February 2023 recorded the lowest number of tourists throughout the year, with a total of 922,790 visitors.

Of these, 840,056 arrived via King Fahd Causeway, 81,516 via Bahrain International Airport and 1,218 via the seaport.

Highest number

Similarly, December in 2022 witnessed the highest number of tourists with 1,111,956 visitors, of which 990,243 came through the King Fahd Causeway, 106,935 through Bahrain International Airport and 14,778 through the Seaport.

However, February saw the lowest number of arrivals with 390,916, including 343,758 via King Fahd Causeway, 46,147 via Bahrain International Airport and 1,011 via the seaport.

The continued growth in tourist numbers underlines Bahrain’s success in attracting visitors from different regions.

The country’s diverse offerings, including cultural attractions, historical sites, family-friendly activities and world-class events, have contributed to its increasing popularity as a tourist destination.
