The ‘tremendous pressure’ of illegal migration on the US school system – PJ Media

Even the left-leaning Wall Street Journal is publicizing the enormous strain on teachers, resources and taxpayer dollars caused by the never-ending stream of illegal aliens flowing across Biden’s open border into America.

The Wall Street Journal explained in a May 25 piece that up to a million illegal alien children have entered America since 2021, when Biden took office. Denver schools alone suffered a $17.5 million budget deficit last year due to illegal aliens. Sure, Denver is a woke sanctuary city, but illegal aliens are being sent all over the country. Every state is now a border state, and that is a serious problem for school systems.

WSJ noted that the migrants are “adding financial and logistical strains in communities where they have arrived in large numbers.” Districts now need more staff and teachers to teach English. They also need more space for the new migrant students, and the “promised additional federal or state funding” does not always arrive or is delayed.

In Stoughton, Massachusetts, 90 additional students cost $500,000 more for bus transportation and staffing. And it’s a problem that is likely to get worse, as left-leaning Massachusetts is legally obliged to accept any family who asks for shelter there. Breitbart summarized:

For Stoughton, with a population of less than 30,000, mass immigration into their community has caused the school district to dish out at least half a million dollars in additional costs. State officials said all funds will eventually be returned.

The children arrive needing not only the most basic education, but often trauma support. “There are huge trauma issues,” District Superintendent Joseph Baeta told WSJ. “There are students who do not even master the basic skills of their mother tongue. In some cases they have lived in two, three or four countries and are less than five years old.” And now American taxpayers are responsible for all the help the children need.

The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) has previously found a link between increasingly impoverished American schools and increasing illegal migration, as Breitbart reported.

Researchers at the Center for Immigration Studies analyzed the impact of mass immigration under the Biden administration and found that in 2021, 1 in 4 public school students in the United States came from immigrant households – more than double the share in 1990 and well over three times as much as in 1980. .

According to the researchers, “immigration has contributed disproportionately to the number of low-income students in public schools.” They added: “In 2021, 21 percent of public school students from immigrant households lived in poverty and they accounted for 29 percent of all students living below the poverty line.”

Illegal migration costs Americans billions of dollars, and many of the illegals never give back to the system. For example, fewer than half of the illegal immigrants who entered America under Biden have jobs.

American children are already struggling and many have fallen behind in their learning due to COVID-19 lockdowns. We simply cannot afford to continue to finance an endless stream of illiterate foreign children.
