Pune: In response to the controversial decision to grant quick bail to the rich goon from Pune involved in the Porsche crash case that left two techies dead, a five-member committee has been formed to probe the members of the Juvenile Justice Board responsible for this action. The members of the Juvenile Justice Board appointed by the Maharashtra government are being investigated over their bail conditions for the 17-year-old teenager who fatally crashed his Porsche while driving under the influence on May 19.

Dr. Juvenile Justice Board member LN Danawade is mainly in the spotlight for his controversial decision to immediately release the drunk teenager on bail. The bail conditions, which include writing a 300-word essay on road safety and posting two bonds totaling just Rs 15,000, have sparked nationwide outrage and raised serious questions about the fairness of the justice system.

The committee, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Social Justice, has been set up to oversee the investigation into the controversial bail decision. Women and Child Development Commissioner Prashant Narnaware initiated this study. The Commission of Inquiry is charged with verifying the circumstances surrounding the bail decision and will then submit its findings to Commissioner Narnaware for further assessment.

A report will be submitted next week, said Prashant Narnawre, commissioner of the Women and Child Development Department.

The quick bail

The JJB had granted bail to the teenager hours after the Porsche car allegedly driven by him killed two IT professionals in their 20s on a motorcycle. He was also asked to write a 300-word essay on road accidents, an order that attracted widespread criticism. Following criticism of quick bail, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) has sent a 17-year-old boy to an observation home until June 5.

How the Pune Porsche came into existence?

The accident took place in the early hours of May 19 and two people were killed when the speeding luxury car driven by a youth hit their motorcycle in Pune city.
