Suranne Jones, the lead actor of the British crime mystery drama, returns for internet streaming

New Delhi: The suspense thriller Vigil, starring Suranne Jones and produced by BBC, is gearing up for its debut in India. Fans of the police drama can’t contain their excitement as they wait for the second season to debut on May 31 on Lionsgate Play.

While production duties were handled by World Productions, the British police procedural drama series Vigil was created by Tom Edge. On August 29, 2021, the show made its debut on BBC One. The first series, starring Suranne Jones, Rose Leslie, Shaun Evans, Paterson Joseph, Gary Lewis and Martin Compston, is set in Scotland, mostly aboard the Royal Navy ballistic missile submarine HMS Vigil.

Season 2, which debuted in December 2023, presents enhanced action sequences and new technology in the context of drone warfare.

Set in Scotland, season one follows the investigation into the murder and unexplained disappearance of a fishing vessel.

While Scotland is still central to Season 2’s story, it expands beyond the maritime setting and takes place in several other locations as well. While much of Season 1 took place below the surface in a submarine, the events of Season 2 take place above ground and revolve around deadly drones.

The plot revolves around Silva’s team, who are given the highly desirable task of identifying the killer responsible for the tragic hack of the Royal Air Force’s prototype combat drone. In pursuit of the killer, police detectives Amy Silva and Kirsten Longacre enter the dark realm of drone warfare. Season 2 takes the procedural drama to a whole new level with its compelling storyline and multi-layered characters.
