“I’ve always been a great actor”: Timini talks about breaking the stereotype of the beloved body

Nollywood superstar and former AMVCA Best Male Actor winner Timini Egbuson recently spoke to Legit.ng about his career and his mental state.

During the conversation, Timini revealed that he was part of Funke Akindele’s Nollywood record-breaking movie, “A Tribe Called Judah.”

Timini shared one of his biggest insights from working on the film set: how he sees Funke Akindele now.

Timini talks about stereotyping

The Nollywood actor finally shared his thoughts on stereotyping. He noted that he has never seen himself in that light. Timini Egbuson said:

“I’m not dating any fashion lover boy. The mode was in some people’s minds, but not mine.”

During the chat, Timini sent a message to the people who have continuously tagged him as a lover boy actor:

“It’s the fans who have to break out of the mode. Ask them that question, not me, because I’ve always been great.”

Timini also talked about working with Funke Akindele and the experience of being on the same set with her. He noted that it was a great experience to be on the set of the movie “A Tribe Called Judah.” This is what he had to say about Akindele:

“It was great to be a part of ‘A Tribe Called Judah’. But you know what feels better, getting a closer relationship with Funke Akindele. To be honest, she is someone who has become like my mentor in the industry. Also creating bonds with all the other actors who were in the film.”

Timini Egbuson was named the highest grossing male Nollywood star of 2023/2024. According to Comescore, he earned over N1.9 billion.

In the meantime, Legit.ng recalls an earlier incident where Timini Egbuson was verbally abused on set by his senior colleague, Funke Akindele.

The exchange between the film stars caused a stir online when Akindele expressed her displeasure over something Timini did on set.

Funke Akindele slammed the actor, noting that he was fond of bad behavior, which made him look less professional.
