By Aduragbemi Omiyale

The Head of Group Sustainability at Access Holdings Plc, Mrs. Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan, will prompt others to discuss Inclusion of disabled people in sustainable entrepreneurship at a conference organized by Access Holdings Plc.

The event aims to highlight the economic value of disability inclusion and its significance in achieving sustainable business practices.

It will take place today, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, and will also feature the Country Director for Sightsavers, Mrs. Joy Shuaibu; the Senior Global Advisor for Save the Children International, Toyin Aderemi; the Corporate Affairs Director of Guinness Nigeria, Rotimi Odusola; the Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Business at Unilever, Godfrey Adejumo; the CSR Manager for Total Energies Nigeria, Tonye Osifo; the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Disability Commission, James David Lalu; and the Sustainability Manager for Standard Chartered, Olaitan Olatunde; among other things.

The seminar was put together in partnership with the Nigeria Business and Disability Network (NBDN) and serves as a platform for employers to build confidence in people with disabilities, promote inclusion practices and promote employment readiness for people with disabilities in the workplace.

NBDN, an employer-led initiative, recognizes that disability inclusion is not only a matter of social responsibility, but also makes good business sense. By creating a disability-centric business environment, employers can tap the potential and capabilities of more than 30 million Nigerians with disabilities, increasing business revenue and growth and improving brand reputation.

The International Labor Organization (ILO) has established the Global Business and Disability Network (GBDN) to promote the mainstreaming of disability within the framework of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

NBDN, the national body of employers in Nigeria committed to the inclusion of people with disabilities, is an offshoot of this global network. NBDN was founded in 2020 by Sightsavers Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management and is currently chaired by Access Holdings.
