The Lake Placid Community Day Organizing Committee has announced that the The 6th Annual Lake Placid Community Day is this Sunday, June 2 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the North Elba Horse Show Grounds. Anyone who lives, works or volunteers in the community is invited to attend. The free party includes free food and drinks and live music from local band Big Boss Sausage. Representatives from the Lake Placid Olympic and Paralympic Training Center will serve food at the event. Community Day also offers plenty of activities for children, including face painting, balloon animals and a caricaturist. The theme for this year’s children’s activities is Superheroes.

Lake Placid Community Day celebrates the community. It is a day to recognize everyone who contributes to the success of the community, whether through work, volunteering or simply as a resident. Representatives from more than 30 community organizations will be present to share information about their work within the community. Equally important, it is a day to have fun and spend time together.

Community Day also recognizes volunteers and the volunteer spirit that is the heart and soul of the Village of Lake Placid and the City of North Elba. As part of this celebration, the committee will honor two individuals as Distinguished Volunteer of the Year; JT Wint, youth, and Debbie Erenstone, adult.

The Community Day Celebration is a joint initiative of the Lake Placid/North Elba Community Development Commission and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism.

The Lake Placid/North Elba Development Commission facilitates the implementation of the Lake Placid/North Elba Comprehensive Plan, which was developed in 2014. The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism is the destination marketing and management organization for Hamilton and Essex counties, along with the communities of Lake Placid, Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, all located in the Adirondacks of upstate New York.
