Reckless murder trial over drug death postponed while La Crosse man seeks another attorney

A La Crosse man arrested two years ago for allegedly supplying drugs that killed a female neighbor will wait a while before he goes to trial.

Bernard Moore Junior had a trial scheduled for September in his La Crosse County reckless homicide case, but defense attorney Candice Tlustosch has withdrawn from that case. Moore also withdrew his demand for a speedy trial, so the case will be rescheduled if he finds another attorney.

The victim died in 2021 after ingesting fentanyl and meth, allegedly supplied by Moore, who was arrested months later. Moore fired another attorney shortly after he was charged, claiming that attorney was not helping him, and another hearing is expected in a few weeks.

Moore is now serving a prison sentence in New Lisbon for another drug offense.
